Weekly Round-Up

What's Happening in the Clintonville, Shawano and Surrounding Areas

By Marie Vandenberg, Publisher/Editor Macaroni Kid Clintonville, WI July 24, 2021

I wasn't sure I'd be able to write this week's weekly round-up.  It's been a very crazy week.  I was working on a Back-To-School campaign which I'm super excited to share just as soon as the client gives the go-ahead.  I'm still working on the back-to-school guide.  I don't have all the school supply lists yet, but I have a couple of articles I can share for back-to-school until I get it done.  We had a great time (in the 30 minutes we were able to make it) at Waupaca's First Meet the Fleet!  I saw so many friends in the short time we were there.  Hopefully, they bring it back next year so more people can make it.  My family went to Movie Night at the Park in Clintonville last night.  We found out why there was a last-minute location change, but it's all good since it seems like it will be an excellent fit. The Baseball team is hosting the Regionals at Olen Park.  The Park & Rec Department is doing a lot of work at Bucholtz Park so the August movie should be a lot of fun with fewer mosquitos.

I saw this weekend is really big on history and heritage.  The Union Thresheree will be held just outside of Manawa all weekend long, Marion is hosting Heritage Days.  Wittenberg is hosting their open house and Shawano is hosting their Summer Depot Tour as well.  All 4 locations are within 20-30 minutes of Clintonville/Marion, so hopefully, you can catch a few.  As I was typing the descriptions into the calendar, they all look like they'll be a lot of fun.

It's so hard to believe that we're well into the second half of July already.  My summer bucket list is missing a lot of checkmarks and my kids are being really good about reminding me, so these next couple of weeks are going to be focused on back-to-school and putting the balance back into work/life balance.  It's been a little wonky lately and as the mom whose son is turning 20 this summer, I don't want to waste it.  I know that it goes by so fast.

I'm not sure exactly what you guys want as far as deals go, so feel free to check out the CertifiKID site if you're looking for virtual classes or a day/ weekend trip to the Chicago area.  The two that have caught my eye are the Santa's Village Amusement Park and the Tall Ship 'Windy' trip. It's hard to believe it's been 2 years already since the Tall Ships Festival was in Green Bay.

It's shaping up to be a hot weekend, so if you do head out to the festivals, be sure to stay safe, drink plenty and find the shade every once in a while. Be sure to check the calendar frequently.  Things are still being added all the time. I actually created a shortcut on my home screen on my phone so I can get to the calendar fast.  Sometimes, really last-minute things are posted to Facebook, which, I know is a huge risk.  If you follow the page, try to interact occasionally so the information makes it into your newsfeed.  I am really trying quite hard to cut down on the last-minute events, and you guys, my readers, can help.  If you see a flyer, just go ahead and assume I haven't seen it yet, especially if you don't see it on the calendar.  I will never complain about getting the same flyer 3 or 4 times.  If you are hosting an event or are part of a planning committee, add me to the media list.  It's free to be added to the calendar.  I do have actual advertising packages available that we can discuss if you want something more, but I want the calendar to be complete and I can only do that with your help.

Be sure to check out the list of events in the newsletter this week.  There are a few events coming up in the next few weeks that I don't want you to miss out on- be sure to order your tickets now, while you can.  If you're not a subscriber yet, you can sign up here and be the first to know when there are new articles on the site!

Until next week!  Have a great week and maybe we'll see you out and about!
