On September 11th, the Bear Creek First Responders and Bear Creek Fire Department will be having their 11th Annual Bear Creek Kraut Run. There is a 1/4 mile kids run, a 1/2 mile kids run, a 5k and a 10k. In years’ past, there were kids activities and sponsors in the “runners village” in the park before and after the races. Things are going to look a little different, but should still be a lot of fun.
Q) Who can participate?
A) All are welcome.
Q) Are there prizes?
A) There are medals for first, second and third place, gift card prize for first overall male and female in 5k and 10k. In the kids' races, the top 3 males and top 3 females in the ½ mile will receive a free entry into the 2021 Bear Creek Kraut Run. Race brackets are 17 and under, 18-29, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ Prizes are based on overall times.

A) Bear Creek Community Center, 109 Prospect St Bear Creek
Q) How much does it cost to sign up?
A) The 5k is $25, the 10k is $30, ¼ mile kids run is $5, ½ mile kids run is $10
Q) Is there a group rate available?
A) Yes. There are some criteria that must be met. It must be a group of 20 or more and must register together with one spokesperson. You can find complete details here.

Q) When is Registration?
A) It’s open now and online closes on Sept 10 same-day registration will be an additional $5.
Q) What time do you need to be at the starting line?
A) 8 am for 5k and 10k, kids runs will start after those events are finished
Q) When/Where is Race Packet/T-shirt Pickup?
A) Runner bags can be picked up at Village Hall on Friday Sept 10 between 6 pm and 8 pm or Sat. morning before 7:00 am.
Q) Is this a fundraiser? If yes, what will the money be used for?
A) Yes, the proceeds are used by the Bear Creek Fire dept and Bear Creek First Responders. We were able to use some funds to purchase a new jaws unit in 2019.
Q) Are Strollers/wagons allowed?
A) Yes
Q) Are dogs allowed?
A) No
Q) What other changes can participants expect from previous years?
A) There will be no activities in the park this year due to covid

A) There will be 4 along the course

A) Around the village of Bear creek, actual map is on our website
Q) How challenging will this be for first-timers?
A) Shouldn’t be too bad, not many hills.
Q) What should a first-timer know?
A) Park at the St Mary’s parking lot

A) Yes

A) There is a kids’ bike giveaway for any registered runners age 12 and under. Must be present to win.
Q) How many years have you been doing the Kraut Run?
A) Since 2010, this is our 11th event

A) Absolutely! We’d like to Thank you in advance. We are able to accept checks by mail, or you can donate via card on our website. We are a 501 C3 tax-exempt organization.
